What’s Hot in Space Branding - The Hospitality Design Renaissance

Space design has reached another level over the course of last few years. We’ll never know for certain if it’s because of the Instagrammable experience that became a norm nowadays or we are simply amidst the design Renaissance era. I like to think it’s the latter…

We can see both intentional and very elaborate space design concepts across businesses of all shapes and sizes. The trend has started quite a while ago when coffee shops started playing with layout, colours, shapes and branding in a way that we’ve never seen before. Soon enough we weren’t choosing our go-to place based on the quality of our favourite grind only, but slowly the design and the overall visual experience gained a great significance in our decision making process.

Think about the last weekend getaway or holiday you’ve had and how you were going about picking that hotel, restaurant or ‘the’ shop that had your name written all over it. If not all but surely great majority of chosen spots had something to do with a noticeable design. We’ve gone from window to space shopping in a matter of years.

Walk with me through some of my favourite spaces around the world that I visited in the past year.

But don’t take my word for it. I highly recommend that if you are in the area to see for yourself as neither my photos nor words can do them justice!

Design Dream 〰️

Wouldn’t you agree how marvellous it is for all of our senses when we find ourselves in spaces that are its own mini art gallery in a way?! If you haven’t already, pay attention to all the obvious and hidden details on your next visit to the trendy café next door or the chic hotel from your bucket list. You’ll find many clues in the different fabric choices and how they feel or look against each other. Notice the shape of the furniture and see if you can spot a certain style. You definitely won’t miss the tile design as that trend has been around for centuries.

‘‘ Design is a funny word. Some people think design means how it looks. But of course, if you dig deeper, it's really how it works.’’ steve jobs.
